The whole experience was made simple, straightforward and efficient. We had a Celebration of Life luncheon there and were very impressed by the professionalism of the event-planning representative (Tina), the host and the staff. Our needs were anticipated by our servers, making it worry free. The food was very good, hot and ample amounts were served. Real butter was tremendously appreciated since some of us follow low carb. The dessert tray was fun and enjoyed. Guests were given to-go boxes to use to take some of the leftovers home. That was a lovely touch and appreciated by guests. When the staff saw us rearranging the tables, they did not hesitate to jump in to help. The restrooms were spotless and a nice quiet pace to get away from the need to socialize for a few minutes. Deha's is usually my "go to" place but this time we had a bad start. Three of us went for a birthday celebration and we started off with our drinks. The one drink was a manhatten ordered."up" (without ice). It arrived full of ice. The other two drinks were hot drinks--irish coffees and were served at cool temperatures. The good news is that our server took all three back and quickly returned with the accurate orders. After that everything else was perfect. The meals and appetizers were served perfectly. The atmosphere is cozy and very classic decor, from white linen, fireplaces and high wooden ceilings. Its like a cozy cabin. The food is delicious and the staff are so nice and very accommodating. I've worked with Tina and she is great! Her communication is on point and she makes sure that if there are any dietary restrictions, that they are on top of it! Service, once they got around to us, was pretty good. 'Alaina' was nice. We sat in the bar area, they were not busy, and it still took her close to 10 minutes to even approach us. Service was very good -- I couldn't get past a half full glass without waitress bringing refill. I had the panko fish with fries which was not bad. My wife had the Mac n cheese with pulled pork that she loved. Serving sizes were very large and not expensive. I was just a bit disappointed in drink prices. I believe $12 for a mixed drink is too much. My wife got the Jack Frost drink and enjoyed it, while I declined. If drinks would have been $8 or $9 we would have had more. Our family has been eating at deSha's for more than a decade and I'm happy to say that the quality has remained consistent all along. The two-tier dining system is actually pretty smart as they're able to serve two different clienteles under one roof. We're always on the bar side and the staff is always outgoing, friendly, and professional. Can't go wrong with the fish and chips and tomato soup, but there's a lot of great options on the menu. I gave a bridal shower luncheon this past weekend at DeSha’s in one of their private rooms. I took decorations for my tables and some balloons. When I arrived, tables were all set up beautifully. I brought in theme decorated cupcakes for my dessert table. The food I selected was prepared perfectly, and the wait staff were outstanding. The positives of deSha's are that the quality of food and preparation is excellent, especially given that most prices are moderate, and service is really good and competent. The "turnoffs" for some might be that the clientele tends to be elderly, and the decor consists of very dark wood, so deSha's lacks a strong upbeat vibe. I consider it to be a good place for a business lunch or a date night where you don't want an obtrusive atmosphere. Their buffet service for events is excellent. Went here for lunch on a Sunday. Sunday seems to be extraordinarily popular. Service was a tad slow at the beginning, but Curtis volunteered to be our server and everything went swimmingly the rest of our stay. I ordered the “Pub” fish and chips. A Very Nice Outdoor Dining Experience We went on a Saturday evening and the weather was perfect so we opted for a table out on the deck which turned out o be a great choice. A small Fish & Chips ($14), a small salad ($6.50) and a Pub Fish & Chips ($20) plus two glasses of wine ($16) was $61 with tax. The Pub fish was much larger, hence the higher price. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was outstanding. Some reviewers complained about the loud band music but the evening we were there had two acoustic instrument players. They have lots of indoor seating and a full bar. There is also a party room in the back for larger groups or special occasions. Free parking in the adjacent shopping center lot. We wanted to thank you and your staff for an amazing event for our small wedding! I don’t remember the names of the two servers dedicated to our space, but they were phenomenal! Very attentive to all of our guests and we’re so helpful with small things, such as closing the doors behind us when we did our little ceremony, etc. We as well as many of our guests raved about the food. I'm a good judge of size--this one piece was at least 2 inches thick and about 8 or 9 inches by 4 inches. He was only able to eat less than half of it and had to take the rest home. When we’re looking for comfort food and an easy, yet not totally casual (aka sloppy) environment, we book a table in the main dining room here—plenty if space, attractive and unobtrusive decor, and generally a low noise level. Plenty if space between booths to feel some privacy, but must be able to navigate shallow steps down. Not wheelchair accessible in the lower level booths or nice tables adjacent to the little lake. The “bar seating area” does not have the smoky bar image—instead it is well lit and also has tall tables sized mostly for small groups. This area is more lively and congenial. This time we chose the Makers Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese— filling and tasty along with the Brownie Bits and ice cream dessert. Nothing gourmet— but easy and satisfying. Service was a little less prompt than usual, but nothing dramatic, and suspect the servers were new. We’ll be back. - 5/16/2023

Best Fish and Chips around... And Bellhaven! We love DeSha's. It's one of our favorite places. The fish and chips here are excellent. They sell The Pub at Rookwood Version (beer battered large single filet) and 2 or 3 piece Panko breaded filet pieces. The cornbread is delicious and has whole corn in it. We met for a pleasant lunch. Service was superb. We had goetta fries that were delicious. Spinach salad and tomato basil soup and french onion soup were fresh and filling. Gotta say that the highlight of our meal was the seasonal bread pudding - Yum!! - 3/10/2023

I ordered the Biscuit +3 meal which included a biscuit, sausage gravy, 2 sausage patties, and a cup of fruit. The biscuit itself was slightly hard, but once I put the sausage gravy on it, it was fine. My first bite of the sausage patty was disappointing because it was lukewarm at best. The fruit cup was not exactly what I expected, but it was tasty. What I was expecting, was plain, cut up fruit, but what I got was cut fruit with some sort of syrup mixed in with it. At least that’s what it appeared and tasted like. My brother ordered the Smoked Gouda and chicken rotini. He said that it was hot and tasted very good. We didn’t order any drinks and only drank water. I was happy that we were seated on the lower level adjacent to the pond which I feel is the primo place to be seated and doubly happy that we scored a booth! The service was excellent and our server was professional and kind. I gave a score of 4 stars because of the lukewarm sausage patties. Even the sausage gravy was on the mediocre side as far as temperature was concerned. I believe that hot food should be brought out hot and cold food items should be brought out cold. Great food and atmosphere. There seemed to be a little confusion when I checked in and confirmed I reserved through OpenTable, but we were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation...even though we showed up 15 minutes early. The service was polite and helpful but a little slower than expected. Overall, an enjoyable night out and I will definitely return. - 2/19/2023

Girlfriend birthday lunch! Our server was great. Thought maybe you would have offered my friend, the birthday celebrant, some kind of dessert. I would have been happy to pay for it. It was noted on my reservation what the occasion was. We always have lunch at DeSha’s as it is easy access for both of us. I had the corn chowder soup and have to say it could have been more flavorable. I think the broth could have been thicker and the bacon in it was kind of stringy. Spinach salad was delicious. We’ll be back, as usual, but just thought you should know my feelings. My friend had the “hot brown “ and said it was delish!!! - 2/16/2023

Easy to reserve a table. Very friendly service. Many different types of atmospheres to choose from, bar, cozy fireplace or water front. Phenomenal food! Great value. Will definitely go back soon! - 2/15/2023
